About the trip

With an altitude of 4068 m, Mount M’goun, Jebel M’goun, Ighil M’goun or also called Ighil-n-Oumssoud is the second highest peak of Morocco, situated in the heart of the atlas Morocco, in the Central High Atlas. Ighil mgoun is surrounded by many peaks over 3000m and beautiful valleys, There are many ways that lead to or around Jebel M’goun, which offer beautiful and magic treks. The first and the most popular area is the valley of Ait bouguemez valley (6days trekking&hiking), one of the prettiest valleys of the Atlas, Fames with its hospitality people and their good mood thats why it’s called happy valley, as well as beautiful terraces, it’s called also grain valley due to the it’s clear river and intelligent water system of irrigation. the famous rose valley(6day trekking&hiking) Kalaat M’ggouna feeding its water from Ouad M’goun. Fames with its rose festival, and has one of the old and nomadic tribes which is Qabaial Ait Atta. or the scenic tassaout valley (7days trekking&hiking) called also “la valley des oiseaus” it has a lot of deferent types of birds. Mount M’goun is Much less famous than the highest peak Jebel Toubkal, a trekking&hiking around or up to M’goun offers you a more authentic and more quiet experience of the Moroccan landscape and culture. While around Toubkal you will always meet many people, in the Mgoun area, you can still find the quiet peacefulness that makes trekking unforgettable.


Airport-Marrakech-Riad / HOTEL

'Meet by ourselves on your arrival in Morocco at Marrakech airport and transfer to evening accommodation. Only 30 minute transfer to comfortable Riad in the centre of Marrakech. The remainder of the day is at leisure to wander through the beguiling labyrinth of tiny alleys and passageways in the ancient medina (old town).Deposit baggage and breathe in the frantic pace and aromas of Marrakech.


Marrakech (450m) to Agouti (1700m)

This morning after breakfast you leave Marrakech and drive across the plains and farms of orange and olive trees heading towards Azilal, after lunch in Azilal the landscape changes as the plains gradually give way the mountains. With the impressive snow-covered peaks of the central Hight Atlas Mountains looming in front of you. Following the road to meet Ouad lkhder river that will lead you to the end of your enjoyed driving day to get to the gite.5 to 6 hours driving.


Agouti (1700m) to Aghbalou-n-Ait Imi(2050m)

After having left the crowded city of Marrakech, you can now enjoy the quiet mountains. You will spend a wonderful day in the Valley of Ait Bougeumez (Happy Valley) discovering the simple and traditional lifestyle of the Amazigh people, also known as Berber. Visit the old granaray of Sidi Moussa and hike up the Asknfou pass at 2100m where you have lunch. On the way down to the village of Ibaqlliwn, you will see impressive dinosaur prints in the limestone that in other regions of the world would attract both tourists and researchers. then continue your walk to the camp. sleep in tents. 6 hours of walk.


Aghbalou-n-Ait Imi(2050m) to Tighremt-n-Ait Hemd (2010m)

Start today’s journey at the water source of Ait Imi and hike up to the mountain pass Tizi-n-Ait Imi at 2906m to get a marvelous view back to Happy Valley as well as the M’goun Massif. Walk down to Ifri-n-Oukhlifa for lunch and walk through the dry riverbed leading to Tighremt-n-Ait Hemd. The night is spent in in tents. 6 hours walking.


Tighremt-n-ait Hemd(2100m) to Amskar Oufella(1850m)

As you leave your camp close to the old grenary of Tighremt-n-Ait Hemd you hike up to Tizi-n-Ait Hemd mountain pass ( ). Enjoy your lunch with a splendid view to the famous Rose Valley. After lunch you continue walking down to get to the village of Amskar. The night is spend in tents. 6 to 7 hours walking.


Amskar (1850m) to Boutaghrar (1500m)

Today is an easy walking day. You leave the camp and walk downwards, along the Amskar river to the gorge of Amejgag and then continue through the traditional villages of Amejgag and Almdoun. After enjoying your lunch in the gorge of Agouti you continue following the canyon until the village of Boutaghrar where you will spend the night in a gite. 7 hours walking.


Boutaghrar (1500m) to Marrakech (450m)

On your last day you are driven back to Marrakech passing through Kelaat M’gouna and Ouarzazat with a stop to visit the UNESCO world heritage village of Ait Ben Haddou 30 km away from Ouarzazat. After lunch in Ait Ben Haddou, a few more hours of driving over the Tizi-n-Tichka mountain pass (2260m) will lead you back to Marrakech. 6h driving.
